This week is "Teacher Appreciation Week" and I feel very much appreciated. As a new teacher, a new mommy, and a pretty new wife, this year has been quite an adventure. All of my children (including both my students and my own little love) are so good to me. On a daily basis they show their appreciation for me in a number of ways. My students do a wonderful job of testing my patience. They make me realize more about myself as a person. They make me a better teacher, a better mother, and a better person. My job is to teach them... and they get to teach me, too. I am appreciative of every one of my students and every child who has made an imprint on my life. I have been told "you have your heart wrapped so tightly around each one of your students"... and I am starting to notice that as true. They make me crazy, but like Jimi Hendrix once said, "craziness is like heaven".
I also feel so much appreciation for every teacher I have had in my life (and that is A LOT of teachers)! If it wasn't for my positive experience with school I would not be in the profession I am. I love you, teachers. And I also love all the other "teachers" (aunties, grandmas, uncles, grandpas, daycare providers, paraeducators, etc.) Keep it up, teachers!
